Riddler Revenge - Six Flags New England

Six Flags New England – Back for Sam’s 300th

While yesterday was warm at Lake Compounce, by time we made our way to Six Flags New England (SFNE) a breeze had kicked up, the clouds mostly blocked out the sun, and the rain soaked us upon our exit. With that rain, it meant the park had no crowds by time we showed up. There was little to no wait time for anything and we managed to ride every single coaster except Catwoman Whip. Well, minus Flashback because that looks to be on an extended closure.

This morning, however, when we walked out of the hotel we were hit by the reality that today was not going to be at all like yesterday. It was going to be sweltering hot instead. The car was already uncomfortable to get into and it was still early. We knew this day was going to be a struggle against the heat. Hopefully that would also keep crowds to a minimum, or at least have them in the water park instead.

We kicked off the day at Catwoman Whip for Sam's 300th before I embarked on a few hours of photos.

300 in the Books & the Park Fully Photographed

We arrived at SFNE after a 15 minute drive and that heat hit us hard getting out of the car’s air conditioning. The black top was so uncomfortable and we would be walking around on more of that once inside. We fully intended to take advantage of our drink passes, any shops with air conditioning, mist fans, and we wanted a ride or two on Blizzard River. But first, Sam had number 300 to earn on Catwoman Whip.

Catwoman Whip was shut down last night due to the rain. Thankfully it was open today and with zero wait. We jumped on, took some photos of Sam holding up a 300 sign in front of the Catwoman statue, and were on our way. This is when I split off from Sam and Jen to take photos.

I wanted to blanket this entire park and get as many photos as I could. I ended up taking over 750 when all was said and done and over 300 of those have been added to the Six Flags New England Gallery. You can also see the ones from just today down below.

Now, onto some of the day’s ride highlights:

Blizzard River

I ended up taking photos for a couple of hours. Meanwhile Sam and Jen rode some of their favorites, with an emphasis on Wicked Cyclone. That’s where we ended up meeting up. I rode with them for a lap and that’s when I suggested we give Blizzard River a go. I think we were all excited for it and hoped that we would get drenched. And thankfully, we did.

This ride was one I had never done in my prior visits. I really liked the loading station and we had a great time getting splashed all throughout the ride’s course. We considered riding this again later in the day and probably would have if we had been closer to, or not decided to go home early. More on that later.

Riddler Revenge

We rode this yesterday and neither Sam or Jen enjoyed it. I’ve come to appreciate Vekoma SLC’s lately and have had some good rides on them at several parks over the last two years. I wanted to jump on Riddler Revenge one more time while at the park. Sam wanted nothing to do with it and at first, Jen didn’t either. She changed her mind though and we got in a back row ride, just like we did on Thunderhawk at Michigan’s Adventure last summer. That ride was actually quite enjoyable and I found this one to be fun as well. Jen, not so much. Oh well.

I did get some great photos of this ride too, so be sure to check them out below.

Joker

Yesterday we had two rides on Joker in the rain. We didn’t even have to get off the ride because no one else was in line. Since we had so much fun yesterday, we figured, why not do it again?

As the end of our day drew near that’s when we decided to give it another go. Yeah, we’ve been enjoying the S&S 4D Free Spins lately. Is that better or worse than my enjoyment of SLC’s these day? I’ll let you decide.

Well, the lockers near Joker and Batman: Dark Knight did not work and since I still had my camera I was in a bit of a pickle. I could have ran all the way back over to Riddler Revenge and use that locker bay, but it was just too hot. I told the girls to go get in a ride without me and I’ll take some extra photos while I wait for them.

I got some good shots of this ride too, just like all the others. I really hope you check out the gallery on this one. There’s a lot I’m proud of. Also, check all the nearly 60 shots I published of Superman the Ride while you’re down there. Talk about a photogenic coaster!

Yesterday's Bonus Time Let Finish Up Early

We made it to about the halfway point in the day and between the heat and number of rides we had wracked up between both days, we decided to head out early. Our hotel had a pool and we’d in for a long drive in the morning to get back home. We also found a restaurant called 99 Restaurant & Pub by our hotel that we wanted to check out. That turned out to be a good choice as the food was great and the prices were great for the food quality and quantity. I wish we had a 99 Restaurant around here.

Had the weather been a little cooler I think we would have squeezed in a few more rides on Wicked Cyclone. The girls got six rides today, but I only got in one since I was taking photos. I doubt Sam or Jen would have been upset with a few more. The heat though… it was just so bad. Hopefully it will be more tolerable tomorrow because we are looking to break up our drive back to Baltimore with a stop at Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv). The forecast, however, said we would be in for more sweltering heat.
