Wingman Bio

Sam & I after getting off Sky Rocket at Kennywood during her first-ever visit to the park.

Sam’s bio is the first one I had to rewrite since launching the site. The funny thing is, I had to rewrite it about a month into the site’s life. Sam was still getting over her fear of roller coasters for the first few months of this site’s existence. She has come a long way in a short amount of time, even notching some big coasters in the along the way. Coasters such as: Skyrush, El Toro, Kingda Ka, Nitro, Candymonium, and Alpengeist – which is her favorite.

When I launched this site, Sam was only an ensign, and had four parks to her name. During most of those visits pre-We Were Inverted, Sam didn’t really ride too many coasters. Maybe a smaller one here or there. Even when we started things off, it was slow going. She was getting over her fears of coasters and really wanted to sink her teeth into this hobby.

By the end of 2020, Sam had 16 visited with me to her name. Everything from Hersheypark to Storybook Land, from Busch Gardens Williamsburg (BGW) to Go-Karts Plus. If there was a coaster and we were going to be close by, we went and we rode it. We even visited some of the parks multiple times, so much so that she went and got herself a Hersheypark season pass and a Six Flags membership.

If you’d like to learn more about Sam’s amazing journey, be sure to read her interview, “Q&A: Sam – Summer of Sam Comes to a Close.” I could have never imagined that she would have taken to this hobby like she did. I’m so proud of her and can’t wait to go to some of her bucket list parks such as DollywoodCedar Point, and Kings Island.
