Tiger Terror - Safari Land

Safari Land – Just in Time for the Terror

After two days at Six Flags Great America (SFGAm), it was time to get back on the road and visit some smaller parks. I had drawn up a few different options for parks to visit and which path to take to fit them all in. No matter what we did, it was going to be tight and might not work out as planned.

My original plan after leaving SFGAm was to visit the nearby Safari Land for a quick ride on Tiger Terror. From there, head to Little Amerricka, and then Bay Beach. Then I saw Santa’s Village was also nearby. That’s when I threw out the plans and just went with the flow. We had an extra day to push things around, so no matter what, we’d make it work one way or another.

Claiming the Credit Before the Ride's Demise

Since Safari Land was the closest to our hotel, that’s where we were went first. I had heard some wild things about its ride, Tiger Terror, but also saw it was set to be removed a few months prior to our visit. I wasn’t even sure if there would be a coaster there for us to ride once we made our way to Illinois.

Thankfully, there was. And it was still Tiger Terror. Its removal was delayed, which made this stop all the more important. I had to see what this little coaster in the back of this small family entertainment center was all about.

Oh my! This kitty bites! And the theming… Well done Safari Land! Seriously, walking back to this ride all I could do was shake my head in approval for how good this ride looks in its own spot of the FEC.

As for the ride, it might not look like much, but every turn, tilt, and dip in its track tosses you left, right, up, or down. Be sure to watch the POV from this ride. Watch how Jen bounces around like a pinball. I had myself braced pretty good in my seat and even I was having trouble staying still.

By time we got off the ride we laughing our asses off. We rode with a bunch of kids who were having a blast. In that moment, we were a couple of big kids too. We got right back in line to do it all over again.

Final Ride Counts

This small coaster sure packed a punch!

A Wild Ride I'm Glad We Rode

I have no idea how long this ride has before it gives its final ride. I’m wondering what will replace it and if they will recycle its theming for whatever comes next. All I can say is whatever does move into its spot will have a lot to live up to. And I didn’t even mention those awesome tiger trains!

Talk about a fun way to get a day of small parks and lots of driving underway.
