After wrapping up a visit to Six Flags St. Louis (SFST), it was onto Indiana for our next stop – Holiday World. This would be my third visit to this amazing park. It was back in 2018 that I visited for the first time, with Mindy, after we visited Indiana Beach and before heading to Kentucky Kingdom. In 2021 I returned with both Sam and Kaylee, squeezing in a day at Holiday World after two days at Kings Island. Here in 2025, this stop was part of a much larger trip that includes: Worlds of Fun, Silver Dollar City, SFSL, Kentucky Kingdom, Beech Bend, four mountain coasters, and four family entertainment/go kart centers.
With the park’s latest addition, Good Gravy! it made sense to stop, but for Sam, she could also experience Legend. Back in 2021 it was closed for re-tracking. To be honest, I would have wanted to stop regardless of those things for more rides on Voyage, Raven, and Thunderbird. This park has some awesome rides!
I Love This Park, Minus One Thing
Aside from loving this park’s ride line up, I love Holiday World for its atmosphere, free drinks, and Thanksgiving dinners at the Plymouth Rock Café. They are simply the best! Both Sam and I were talking about getting a meal there long before we even hopped on a flight to start this trip. I wish other amusement parks had food options like Holiday World.
All that being said, there is still one thing that I do have to mention as a knock on this park. That being ride operations. I don’t recall things being bad back in 2018, but the last two visits had some of the slowest loading and unloading of trains at any park I have ever seen. Seriously, I think Batwing at Six Flags America (SFA) loads faster than all the coasters at Holiday World. And no, I’m not being over the top here. They’re so slow.
Good Gravy!
We decided to head right to Good Gravy! to get our new credit out of the way. It was located close to Voyage and not too far from Thunderbird so it worked out nicely anyhow. We also thought it might let us beat any crowds so those slow operations weren’t magnified. It turned out to be a good call.
First things first, this ride’s presentation gets an A-plus. All the pantry items outside and then the grandma’s house theming inside are top notch. They did a fantastic job with all this and should be commended.
As for the ride, it really didn’t do much for me at all. I know this is a family coaster, but at no point did I feel any kind of forces during any of the drops or turns. It was super smooth too, but that might have even added to the feeling of mostly nothing for me. It just glides along. Oh well, it is what it is.
Legend
And finally Sam got to ride the Legend. Running just one car with a super-long line, we waited patiently for our first ride of the day. But man, what a ride it was!
Back in 2018 I remember loving the Legend and thinking it was my second favorite ride in the park behind the Voyage. The way it was riding here in 2025, however… it’s nipping at Voyage’s heels. Sam actually prefers it to the Voyage. And we’d get two more rides on it later in the day for her to cement that opinion. Regardless of which one you like better, you have to admit that Holiday World probably has one of the most, if not the most, stellar wooden coaster collection at any park.
Voyage
Although I too was looking forward to riding Legend, I also yearned for more rides on the Voyage. We only managed one ride on it four years ago and I wanted to make up for that by getting in a couple this time around.
Mission accomplished.
I feel like Voyage has gotten better for me each visit I’ve made to Holiday World. While I liked it back in 2018 with Mindy, I did find it to beat me up a little bit. I didn’t feel that way in 2021, but it did still have some bite. Here in 2025 though it feels like it’s running the smoothest that I’ve experienced. I don’t have enough rides over a steady period to say for sure, though. Maybe a local will have some better insight.

We Will Return Again One Day
Living in the Baltimore region Holiday World is not a park that is right around the corner for us. That being said, having visited three times now is a sign of how much I enjoy this park. I would like to head back out again in the next few years, hopefully to take Jen. This is a park I think she will thoroughly enjoy. Greg too. I know he would be loving life riding the Raven, Legend, Voyage, Thunderbird, and yes, even Good Gravy! I hope that gets to happen sooner rather than later. And I hope all of us can sit down together and enjoy yet another Thanksgiving dinner at the Plymouth Rock Café. Did I mention how good it is?
