Until now I had only ever visited Six Flags Over Georgia (SFOG) once. That visit came back in 2019 when I visited the park with Mindy and her kids, Mailyn and Dominic. It was a scorching hot July day that saw us push through the heat to secure at least one ride on every coaster, with a couple of re-rides on the likes of Twisted Cyclone and Goliath. It was a good time, but man was it exhausting.
Twisted Cyclone ended up being favorite ride at the park. Although it was short, I thought the elements were forceful and fun. Goliath, however, I found to be overhyped and feature a bad rattle. While it was by no means terrible, I went in expecting it to be one of my favorite B&M Hyper Coasters after reading what everyone else said about it online. It sadly was not.
Fast forward seven years and I was excited to go back to SFOG. I wasn’t with anyone this time so my plan was to photograph the park in the morning/afternoon then ride as much as I could until park close. Little did I know that I’d make friends at Fun Spot America – Atlanta (FSAA) yesterday who I’d meet up with again today. That made the day so much more fun.
No New Credits, But Some Great Re-Rides on Favorites
When I made my plans to come down to Georgia to ride ArieForce One at Fun Spot, I gave myself a second day in the region so I could also return to SFOG and ride Georgia Gold Rusher. Truth be told, nothing about Gold Rusher ever excited me, but it would be a new credit so of course I’d ride it. But ultimately it’s a credit I’m going to have to return for. Right before my trip, SFOG announced that the ride will be close for the remainder of 2026. That was a bummer, but it certainly wasn’t the reason I was coming down to Georgia anyhow.
With Gold Rusher down that would just mean more time to re-ride the coasters I experienced seven years ago. How would they hold up? Would Twisted Cyclone still be my overall favorite at the park once I was finished for the day and back at the hotel? I think you might be surprised by my change of heart. I know I was.
Goliath
My plan to take photos and ride later didn’t take long to go by the wayside. As I was taking photos of Goliath’s station I saw that there was only a couple of people on the train. Same thing on the second train. No one was riding. I bought my moveable locker for the camera immediately and went up to the station.
I almost ended up having a zen ride too, but a mother and daughter came running up at the last second. I was in the back row and they wanted to sit there too. I didn’t mind. They boarded quickly and we were on our way. I had no idea if I was going to have a similar experience as I did the last time or not. The only thing I did know climbing the lift hill was that I do like it’s current paint scheme better than the old one.
By time our train had ran through the course and had entered the brake run, I found myself liking more than just the paint. Wow! What a ride! The first half had floater airtime. Some pops were stronger than others, but it was enjoyable all around. When we left the park and went out into helix area, I did still notice some rattle, but it didn’t feel as strong or at least wasn’t bothering me as much as it did in 2019 (maybe due to the heat?). Then it happened. Ejector airtime moments! As Goliath made its way back into the park and back toward its station, I was getting tossed up so much harder than the first half of the ride. Hell, so much harder than B&M Hypers tend to toss me.
When we re-entered the station, a few boys were waiting for the front row. I stayed put and when the mother and daughter saw me stay on, I said to them, if they let us go again, why not? They agreed and we all rode again. It was just as good that time too. This ride was now in contention to be my favorite, but I’d have to get in some rides on Twisted Cyclone first.
Spoiler: I’d go onto ride Goliath five more times later in the day once I met up with Peter, Keith, Alex, and Savannah. That gave me seven on the day and those evening rides felt even faster. Once all was said and done, I now say that Goliath is my new favorite coaster at SFOG.
Twisted Cyclone
Having read that spoiler above, do not assume that Twisted Cylone fell off. Not at all. Even though I rode a far superior RMC the day before in ArieForce One, Twisted Cyclone is so much damn fun! Sure, it’s short, but it’s something you can ride over and over again and enjoy every single time.
I love this coaster’s pre-lift portion, the airtime pops will end up hurting your thighs in the way all of us RMC fans out there love throughout the ride, and I thoroughly enjoy the inversions on offer. While this isn’t my favorite RMC by any means, do not sleep on this ride or think it’s not worth your time.
Riddler Mindbender
Back in 2019 I was the only one who enjoyed this coaster. I found it to be forceful while still being comfortable. On this visit, however, I noticed some changes. Aside from Riddler now being in the ride’s name, a few jarring moments throughout the ride’s later half had all of us saying, “Ouch.” We sat towards the front of the train too, which made it all the more surprising.
Since I’ve only ridden this coaster twice, once being in 2019 and once here in 2026, I don’t know which of my two rides was the norm for this ride. Like I said, Mindy, Mailyn, nor Dominic cared for this ride years ago, but I did. Now I didn’t care for it and it sounded like Peter, Keith, Alex, and Savannah didn’t either. Do any locals have some input? Has this ride gotten rougher?

I Enjoyed this Park So Much More
Seven years ago a hot sun drained most of my energy as I rode every single coaster at SFOG over the course of a long summer day. While I did have fun with Mindy and the kids, the temperature and non-existent crowds this visit made for a much more enjoyable day. I’m glad I got to get back down here and do everything all over again.
I’m also glad that I got to hang out with Peter, Keith, Alex, and Savannah for the majority of the day. I can say that this was one of my favorite trips of the year so far. It just hit different and I hope all my new friends had as much fun going from ride with me as I did with them. Thanks for letting me hang out with all of you and for the fun coaster nerd talk.
