Big Bad Wolf: The Wolf's Revenge - Busch Gardens Williamsburg

Busch Gardens Williamsburg – 1st Rides on the New Wolf

In June I did a coaster trip through Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky with Sam. One month later, Jen and I were going through Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota to ride even more coasters. Just one week after returning from my trip with Jen, Sam and I were in New Jersey getting another new credit at Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv) in Flash Vertical Velocity. And here, one week later, both Sam and Jen joined me in heading to Virginia for yet another new coaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg (BGW) – The Big Bad Wolf: The Wolf’s Revenge. Sorry about that sentence. Blame the park for using so many words when it named the coaster.

All jokes aside, it was great getting both Sam and Jen together again so all three of us could enjoy some rides and get a new credit together. Chris and Carrie would meet us at the park for a little bit and get a ride on the wolf together. It was nice to see them again.

I like what the park did with Drachen Fire's old station.

Focusing on Rides Instead of Photos (Except for The Wolf)

I have taken so many photos at BGW aside from this new installment of the Big Bad Wolf, which I’m calling it from here on out. I wanted to make sure I got some got shots of this brand new ride, but for the rest of the day, I wanted to focus on getting on rides. The camera would spend a lot of time in a locker. While I enjoy taking pictures, it does eat into ride time.

The Big Bad Wolf: The Wolf's Revenge

My lone ride came in the front of the train with Chris. I wanted to film a POV, so I waited for the front. Sam and Jen sat toward the back, if not in the very back. I honestly don’t know which row they were in.

First and foremost, let me say that I do like the dedication the park made to theming this ride. The set pieces you fly over and alongside look great. I even like the station and queue area leading to the ride. Kudos to the park for nailing this!

As for the ride, it was fun. Don’t expect intensity here, not even as much intensity as the former Big Bad Wolf. The swaying trains on the former coaster gave you a bit of an out of control feeling. You won’t get that here, nor will you have a drop that resembles anything like the one Verbolten now occupies. All that said, it’s still an enjoyable experience. There was a little bit of airtime, which surprised me. I’ll have to ride this again in the back to see if it’s any more intense though.

Now for what many people are wondering… Does it have the new B&M rattle/shake? Ehh… Maybe a little? It certainly isn’t as bad as Rapterra, Wrath of Rakshasa, or Iron Menace. Those rides are much more intense so this ride might just not showcase it as much. The lead car, however, does sound like it rattles on its own a bit up above your head. But it does look neat and has grown on me after seeing it in person.

Pantheon

Sam kept saying how she wanted to get a bunch of rides on Pantheon, on the car ride down to the park. When we made our way over to the ride and saw no one there, we knew we were going to get in some re-rides. Little did Sam know, Jen and I said to one  another that we shouldn’t leave until we got in 10 rides, but not tell Sam.

After five or so rides, some of which we didn’t even have to leave our seats, Sam asked what we wanted to ride next. That’s when we told her we’re going for 10. She was so happy and we kept on doing our thing.

Both Sam and Jen got in 10 rides. Due to their row being bumped back due to an ADA passes, I got on before Sam and Jen for their 10th ride. When I came back to the station they were about to board and there was a single rider boarding in my row.  I asked if he cared if I rode again with him. He didn’t, so I ended up getting in 11 rides.

Doing so many rides became a blur. We rode all over the train, getting in the front, back, even some middle rows just to get on quickly again. There wasn’t a bad ride of the bunch and the more I ride this coaster, the more I love it.

Finnegan's Flyer

Since Sam now likes S&S Screamin Swings, we made sure to get her on Finnegan’s Flyer. I wanted her to experience one of my favorite ones and she was eager to give it a go. I love sitting on the side facing the station. This lets you look down right over the water once the ride gets going.

Sam ended up loving it, which I figured she would. I think it is a great warm up for when we get up to Hersheypark for Twizzler’s Twisted Gravity which does the same thing as Finnegan’s with the water down below, but at a MUCH larger scale.

I think the park added a great ride for families with The Big Bad Wolf: The Wolf's Revenge.

2025's Trips Have Kept Me Busy & Away From Hersheypark

Speaking of Twizzler’s Twisted Gravity, I think next week will be a great time to head up to Hersheypark to ride it. While it’s not a coaster credit, it’ll be a new ride experience and one I really want to do. We sure haven’t slowed down after those week long coaster trips. So many good memories this year. I can’t wait to make some more.
